Periodical maintenance ElectricsUpdated 9 months ago

Taking care of your Electric

Just like any other device and vehicle, your bike needs maintenance. Taking good care of your Electric ensures a smooth riding experience, safe travels and a long bike lifespan.

Your Electric Two has mechanical, electrical and software parts.

Always check your bike before you step on and periodically have your bike maintained. Do not use it if you are unsure whether or not your Electric is in perfect condition. If necessary, contact Customer Care.

If you use your Electric very frequently, it is vital to have all essential components checked regularly. A part may suddenly malfunction if you use it beyond its lifespan or recommended period of use. This may lead to falls and serious injuries.

Periodical maintenance

With intensive use it is advised to check your bike more regularly. In that case also check your frame and fork for any signs of wear or damage.

Maintenance check

Taking care of your Veloretti is just like maintaining a regular bike. All professional bike shops can perform general maintenance on our Electrics. We advise you to have the bike checked after riding the first 500 km, and after this every 1000 km or once a year if you don’t reach 1000 km.

Lubrication

Your bike is lubricated in the factory. Over time some moving components need to be relubricated. We advise to check at least the following components periodically to see if relubrication is necessary: hubs, pedals, headset. Please do not use solvent based lubrication (i.e. WD-40) but use specialised bike-lubrication (i.e. ball bearing grease)

Hydraulic disc brakes

Check your disc brakes and brake pressure every 1000 km or at least once or twice a year.

Braking power. There needs to be space for at least 1 cm between your brake lever and the handlebar when activated. Not the case? Bleeding of the brakes is required. Do it yourself, or get help from your local professional bike shop. You can use normal mineral braking oil if you need to refill the brake fluid.

Squeaking braking sound? Your brake pads might be ready for replacement, or the brake disc needs cleaning. Do it yourself, or get help from your local professional bike shop.

Saddle

Check your seatpost bolt every month to see if the position of the saddle has changed or when you notice movement.

Battery

When storing the battery, if you are not using the bike for a long time, you should charge the battery once in 3 months, this will keep the battery “active” and the battery capacity at its best.

Enviolo®

We advise calibrating your Enviolo® after every Enviolo® firmware update, after a rear wheel repair/maintenance and once or twice a year through the Veloretti App.

Tires

Tires should be replaced when the profile is gone or when the tire's rubber is drying and you can see cracks in the rubber. When you replace the tire you should replace the inner tube with it, they have the same lifespan. The size of tires you need is: 29x2.00/50-622.

Rims

Check for any loose or missing spokes. If loose or too tight, spokes can also lead to a wobble or a crack in the rim.

Gates® carbon belt drive

Keep the belt clean with just some water. Check the tension of the belt. Move the belt up and down with your fingers, the belt should be able to move approximately 0,5 cm up and 0,5 cm down. Inspect visual damage.

Check loose components

Make sure that there are no loose parts on your bike. Tighten bolts accordingly when noticeable. Pay extra attention to the seatpost, front wheel and rear wheel bolts.

Check damaged components

Check your electrical components for any damage and exposed live electrical components. When this is the case, remove the battery immediately. If you have a question or problem, please contact Customer Care. A lack of expertise can lead to severe accidents.

Firmware update check

We recommend downloading the Veloretti App when available so you are able to update your Electric with the latest firmware.
