How do I break in the disc brakes?Updated a year ago

A disc brake system means you must break-in the brakes to ensure good brake performance and a longer lifespan. First, go to a safe area low on traffic and follow these instructions.

You must break in the brakes to ensure safe riding. During this process, the brake pads will get heated, which creates a specific layer on the brakes. The layer that is formed provides the brakes with a good quality performance.

1. Ride and accelerate

Hop on your bike and start to ride. Accelerate to approximately 20 km/h.

2. Using brakes

Firmly press the right brake until you have returned to a walking pace and repeat 20 times. Next, do the same for the left brake.

Get familiar with your brakes. Be aware that the right brake lever on the handlebar is to brake the bike's rear wheel. The left brake lever is to brake the front wheel.

Always be very careful when using the front brake to slow down. The front brake can slow the bike very quickly and can transport almost all the weight to the front wheel. When the weight shift is very high, it can cause the rider to go over the handlebar.
